Dimple brings tales of kindness and inclusivity to children everywhere during these challenging times of divisiveness and discord. Let us show our children that kindness does matter. Dimple and friends are just the ones to tell the tale, they are young monsters growing up, laughing, learning and playing in the deep, secret sunny woods, where no two monsters look the same.
These little monsters learn about inclusivity and friendship, respect and kindness- in a world where their differences unite them. Join us as we bring Dimple’s adventures to life and complete what we have been dreaming about for a decade. Inspired by our personal life experiences, we (artist and illustrator Adam Bush and wife and author, Kayte Bush) have dreamt of Dimple's Days for the last ten years. After many people expressed interest in his artwork and the personal stories behind it, we were inspired to share Dimple through words as well, in Children’s Books. In our vision, Dimple and all the amazing little monsters not only become an impactful and educational series of children’s books- our favorite group of different and diverse monsters become cultural icons for kindness over cruelty, compassion over carelessness and inclusion over divisiveness.
Dimple also helps children understand and cope with relevant and pressing issues in today's world. The series follows the group on an adventure encompassing the challenges of friendship, compassion, racism, LGBT+ issues and climate change, while managing to stay fun and engaging through 2 sets of books, each targeting a specific age group.
Dimple’s Days will be available in board books for ages 2-6 and in “pre-chapter” books recommended for 7-10 year olds soon.
Adam Bush is an accomplished and versatile artist and illustrator who has been working in various mediums for over 25 years. His portfolio includes everything from corporate logos, commissioned pieces of beloved family members, album covers, movie posters and book covers. Adam has also worked for years using his pseudonym ‘Putnam Finch’ to define some of his darker and more macabre pieces. Please enjoy a preview of Dimple and friends below and check out Adam’s portfolio here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set?vanity=111095734562828&set=a.114666144205787 Some of his favorite characters were created for or with his children. Dimple, a kind and generous young monster grew out of this labor of love and Adam just knew that the little one was meant for much more. So, he continued to work on and develop different aspects of Dimple, while raising infant twins and homeschooling a kindergartner. As anyone who has children might suspect, life got in the way and despite talks of collaborating on a book series with his wife, (an author) and a folder of sketches, Dimple lay dormant for nearly a decade. With every year that has passed, it seemed as though the world needed a Mascot for kindness even more. The fallout from the Pandemic in America has made enemies out of friends, strangers out of neighbors, broken families apart and perhaps worst of all, robbed us of the love and compassion a simple smile conveys.
Both Adam and his wife, Kayte have been dealing with the devastation that the Pandemic has created in their lives-especially concerned for their young children, they tried to keep smiling- even from behind the masks. Yet, they felt hopeless- they lost their traditional careers in healthcare, were sickened with COVID19 and had no clear path forward. Until one day, they came upon an old, scanned sketch of Dimple and they both knew what to do. This, Dimple, their books, were exactly what the world needed. Dimple embodies a gentle and warm nature. The little monster is completely unique, just like all monsters that live in the secret sunny woods. Of course this gives Dimple and crew an entirely different take on kindness and inclusivity. Together they decided it was time to introduce Dimple to the world, a world lacking in what Dimple and friends have in spades- kindness, compassion and inclusion.
“Adam Bush is a local, talented artist who creates from the heart. He has produced images that communicate unity, justice, empowerment and civic engagement. He worked with me to develop a neighborhood campaign, in conjunction with our local NAACP, to celebrate MLK Jr. Day in 2021. Children and adults made hand-made yard signs to communicate the words and sentiments of MLK Jr. Adam’s original artwork was front and center and served as an inspiration. He is a pleasure to work with and an asset to our community.”
“I’ve seen Adam’s artistic work for a few years and I’m always incredibly impressed and even blown away by his intricate artwork and creativity. Seeing his consistent excellent work, I hired him for some help with my branding. Not only did he deliver brilliance, he was very patient with my own creative ideas and allowed me to request tweaks to the design until I was more than satisfied. It just doesn’t get any better than that!”
“I have worked with Putnam Finch for six years now and have never met someone who has been all parts accommodating, flexible, and as great an artist as he is in my entire life. While also producing great works that fit every odd request, his ability to collaborate with you while you figure out what works is unearthly. I have had him make me book covers, comic pages, and personal artwork to be hung in my house and have never been disappointed. With Putnam, you're hiring an artist, but you're getting a collaborator.”
From the moment I met Adam Bush when I was a mid-teen in the early 90's, I knew that he possessed an amazing talent and rare gift in the world of artistry. Back in those days, I can remember Adam being tucked away in his bedroom for hours drawing some of his favorite comic book characters that looked just as good as the comic books themselves! It was no wonder why I professionally chose to work with Adam decades later when I needed image ideas, concepts and artwork for my rock band as well as an independent music film documentary I was directing and producing at the time. His passion, creativity, dependability and dedication to delivering high quality designs is unparalleled to anyone else I've ever met before."
“I was introduced to Putnam Finch in 2016 by a mutual friend. I had just finished writing my first book and needed a book cover done. I sent him a rough sketch of what I wanted along with a description of the book and what he sent me in return was amazing! I loved the book cover and so did everyone I knew when I posted it online. Putnam has done four book covers for me and I can’t imagine anyone else doing them. Two of the four books I wrote I wasn’t sure what I wanted for a cover. I sent him descriptions of the books and told him that he could create a design for them. They were perfect! Putnam is very talented and professional. He’s also very patient given the fact I am new at the book writing process. If I need to change something or have questions, he’s more than willing to help. I am hoping to continue working with him for my future books.”
How can you help ensure that future generations learn about cultural and social inclusivity while tackling issues in the LGBT+ community and climate change?
